The following series of monitors have been carefully selected to provide the right combination of screen size, resolution, refresh rate and pixel response time.

These monitors are chosen based on what ATLAS22 considers to be the most important specifications when it comes to high performance gaming.

For all cases, the size and resolution of the monitor is the core consideration. Beyond that, gaming monitors need good refresh rate and response time.

Monitor sizes are measured diagonally from corner to corner, rather than by width or length, and in our view the ideal size ranges from 24-40 inches. The resolution is a measure of how many pixels are present per square inch, the more pixels the more detailed the image displayed, while this is subject to preference, ATLAS22 suggests between 2K and 4K resolution. Pixel response time is the time it takes for an individual pixel to go from unlit, to lit and back. In high speed monitors this is important as low response time will leave a ghost of previous images on the screen momentarily, causing the image to blur. Finally there is refresh rate. this is the time it takes the screen to be updated to a new image. The higher the refresh rate, the higher frame rate that can be displayed. If you are using a high performance ATLAS22 computer that can run a game at 120 Frames Per Second, but your monitor has a low refresh rate, you will simply not see many of the frames rendered by the computer as the monitor cannot update in time.

Using these metrics, we have curated a list of suggested monitors for you to consider.

High performance gaming keyboards carefully chosen based on key features such as switch types, actuation distance, travel distance, deco and specific technologies such as rapid trigger.

Keyboards are very dependent on preference, but there are several metrics that should be considered when making a choice.

First and foremost is layout. Most keyboards at a minimum contain the lettering and formatting keys in a format known as 40%. From here more and more components can be added, such as arrow keys, number pad, macro keys, function keys, etc. In our opinion having more freedom on your keyboard is generally better, and a minimum of 75% is our suggestion, this includes, lettering, arrows and functions.

Next to be considered is type. Firstly mechanical vs non-mechanical and then secondly which of the many subtypes of mechanical keyboards to choose.

It is our opinion that mechanical keyboards are generally the way to go. A good mechanical keyboard tends to excel in feeling, accuracy, durability and that nice clack-ity sound. However, when choosing a mechanical keyboard there are hundreds of small differences in the switches used in each key. We have chosen a keyboard with high performance switches and a standard switch feel that should appeal to most users.

The final standard consideration to be made here is connection type, wired or wireless? We have chosen wired. The main advantage of a wireless keyboard is that it can be moved around easier, and we rarely see the need to move our keyboard around with any frequency. Meanwhile a wired keyboard is more responsive and reliable.

With these basic criteria in mind, we have chosen the SteelSeries Keyboards as our suggested keyboards for your consideration. They are high performance, feel good to use, and have a suite of bonus features we find valuable.

GAMING MICE

When choosing mice there are five main considerations: Connection, DPI, weight, sensor, and polling rate.

As with keyboards, mice can be either wired or wireless, and in this case we suggest wired, this removes the worry of charging or interference.

Next is DPI or dots per inch, this is a measure of the sensitivity of a mouse. The higher the DPI the more reactive the cursor will be to your movement. Higher end mice will often have a maximum DPI that can be lowered to fit your preference.

On a more basic level, the weight of a mouse is often advertised as a great advantage, While we don't consider this as important, we have chosen a fairly lightweight mouse in any case. These days most mice are equipped with one of two kinds of sensors: laser or optical, while similar optical sensors are preferable for their greater reliability. Finally there is polling rate. This is a measure of how frequently the mouse sends data back to the computer updating its movements. A fast polling rate means high responsiveness.

Using these metrics we have chosen the SteelSeries Aerox Five as our suggested mouse. It excels on all of our metrics, and has a nice look and feel to go along with it.
